This is how we die
by choking the muffled
nectar on our tongues
holding water in our hearts
and drying up our eyes
by suffocating the silent whispers
echoing the remains of home.
This was how we loved
in clasped hands
secretly inhaling earth
under the sand
of shorelines, free and full
breathing dust
and everything in between
forgetting we are bare
and children of one father
But this is how we live now
lost in separation
of all that kept us together
we live as though
death is live enough
to let us breathe.
